So I skipped a week. This should be no surprise to anyone who has been pregnant or lived with a pregnant lady. Sometimes we have the best intentions and they are completely overruled by….sleep, eating, sleep, nausea, taking care of a toddler, prepping for an open house and more sleep.
- How far along: 14 weeks.
- How big is the baby: About 3.5 inches long or the size of a lemon.
- Total weight gain/loss: Hmm. Yes. There is definitely a bump.
- Morning sickness: Yes but it’s starting to fade, thank goodness.
- Stretch marks: None from this kid.
- Best moment this week: Finding a house that we absolutely love! Now we just have to get ours sold!
- Food cravings: Still blowing the grocery budget here. There’s just not much that sounds good these days.
- Gender: We will find out in September/October.
- Labor signs: Nope.
- Belly button in or out: In.
- Current mood: Still tired. Today I woke up exhausted and that’s always stinks.
- What I miss: Cravings. It would be nice to be able to plan a weeks worth of dinners.
- What I am looking forward to: Same as last time – cold weather.
- Milestones: No major milestones this week.
Come February 2012 we’ll be adding a new little person to the family. And so we’re back to weekly (hopefully!) updates on how things are going. And there is no picture this week because having a toddler and two parents who work full time (and one who is coaching this semester) and getting a house ready for an open house makes for a busy week with only enough time to catch up on Bachelor Pad in increments and eat no-bake cheesecake after the kiddo is asleep. Next week there will be a picture!
- How far along: 12 weeks.
- How big is the baby: Just over 2 ounces or about the size of a lime.
- Total weight gain/loss: No gain yet! Hoorah! But there is definitely a bump on the horizon.
- Morning sickness: Yes. Since around week 6 or so. It used to last all day but the past few days it has been concentrated in the afternoon/evenings. It’s mostly just nauseousness though.
- Stretch marks: None from this kid.
- Best moment this week: Not throwing up after I devoured chedder-jalapeno kettle chips.
- Food cravings: How about food aversions? Nothing sounds good, except everything else I see after I’ve already planned dinner. I think it’s impossible to stick to a grocery budget when you’re pregnant because all I want to do is scratch dinner and order takeout.
- Gender: We will find out in September/October.
- Labor signs: Nope.
- Belly button in or out: In.
- Current mood: Eh. This is a busy season for us. I’m just plain tired.
- What I miss: Not feeling sick.
- What I am looking forward to: Colder weather. I am so over summer. And selling our house. Please Lord, help us sell our house.
- Milestones: We had our ultrasound a couple of weeks ago and this kiddo is a mover and a shaker just like Tessa. The little munchkin wouldn’t stop moving around the whole time. How much fun is this going to be? : )
I don’t usually enter the giveaways on blogs, but there have been several occasions where the prize is just too good to pass up. This is definitely one of those times.
Oh Happy Day is giving away the most amazing trip to Paris. You can read all the details by clicking here.
Are you kidding me?! I was born to wear stripes (even though they aren’t always flattering on me) and eat pastries and cheese (this may be the cause of the unflattering stripes….) I am crossing my fingers big time to win this trip and stay in this amazing hotel with Ben!
PICK ME! PICK ME!
We did it. We made it through the first year. I’m beginning to think that was the least of our worries though. Newborns are nothing. It’s the toddler phase I think we should be worried about : )
Tessa has forever changed our lives for the better. She is one cool kid and we are proud to be her parents. She busted out of the womb with awesome hair and personality and we are happy to report that nothing has changed. It has been amazing to see her grow this first year – to learn to roll over, sit up, cut teeth, crawl, say “dada” and “momma”, hold her own bottle and now her own spoon, drink from a cup, pull up, cruise and now walk. Now if only she could learn to change her own diaper we’d be set. : )
In honor of Miss Tessa Jane and her awesomeness, we threw her a little shindig. She had some wonderful family and friends show up and bless her with super fun gifts and even better company, and my mom was even in town! Yay. Now, since she was born I had been thinking of the perfect smash cake for her first birthday. Thank goodness for the internet and Pinterest. There was so much inspiration and I finally found the perfect cake. Get ready for picture overload.

LOVE this cake! Coconut cake with swiss buttercream frosting.

I was so nervous that it wouldn't look right.

Singing Happy Birthday

Swiss buttercream frosting!

The first bite...

Mom helped me sew her crown. It was so easy and looks so cute!

Seeing what she could get away with on her birthday perhaps. The pups ate ALL the cake and frosting that ended up on the ground.

Tessa rules!

Ok, so the site is live and ready to go. Well, it’s not completely finished, but it’s a start. I’m ready to get back to posting and sharing what’s going on in our lives. I’ll admit, it’s been hard to balance marriage, a kid, work and getting a photography business going on the side. The business had definitely taken a backseat, but I don’t regret it. Now that Tessa is almost 11 months, it’s getting a bit easier to carve out the time to grow a business and further develop my skills. So here we go!
Here’s a quick recap of what’s been going on the past several months:
- Tessa has 9 teeth! And she’s almost walking. EEK! And she can say Momma, Dada, and ba-ba-ba-ba.
- Ben just finished his first 12 (14) hour adventure race and is training for a triathlon in the fall and 50 mile trail run in the winter. Whew!
- I’m down to pre-baby weight (which is still waaaay too high) and I’m training for the IronGirl Triathlon in May.
- We’re planning an awesome 1st birthday party for Tess in May (the same weekend as the IronGirl) and my mom will also be in town that weekend.
We’ve got a lot going on and lots to share, so add us to your reader or subscribe so you don’t miss the updates!
And of course, a picture.
